Deep ruby red in color with garnet highlights, this red blend has aromas of dark berry fruits and black plums complemented by undertones of sweet spices and vanilla. On the palate, the structure is enhanced by finely grained tannins to make an rich, full-bodied wine.
Andosol draws inspiration from the historic field blends of California. The inherent stress the rugged site lends to grape growing will saturate the grapes with intensity and depth. Even at this early stage, this wine is long on flavor and texture, showing all the red raspberry and blackberry fruit that were apparent at harvest. Also coming forward are layers of dark chocolate, graphite, incense, and a wide array of baking spices.
This inviting, chocolaty wine is super-soft in mouthfeel at first, due to a full body and resolved tannins. But the tannins firm up on the finish to reveal a structure that can help it age well. Milk chocolate, blueberries and mint bring a lot of flavor.
