Girard Winery Artistry Napa Valley 2019

Following the success of the medal-winning 2010 Artistry, this vintage of our beloved blend is medium-to-full-bodied with notes of black cherry pie, anise, and chocolate-covered espresso beans. Toasty nutmeg and clove balance a lush palate of plum, cherry, and black currant compote. Made with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot.

A less ripe vintage with cooler than usual harvest temperatures led to restrained but balanced wines. Fruit components developed at a slower pace with pronounced acidity developing into a wine with solid acidic structure and integrated fruit and oak character. Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyard was showing challenges with ripening, but with patience we found a sweet spot to pick the grapes that led to a balanced, elegant wine.
