Elegant Sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley. Notes of pear and citrus. This Pouilly Fumé shows pale yellow with a pronounced bouquet of white currants. It is dry, lively and fresh with well-defined fruit. Grown on the opposite bank from Sancerre, this wine is a little more complex and flowery than Sancerre.
The 2012 is quite pale at the present time, with brilliant green highlights. The nose is well-defined and mineral. Still very young and quite elegant, this wine has yet to reveal its full complexity.
Simonnet-Febvre Chablis is a crisp and mineral-driven French white. It greets with alluring aromas of green apple, citrus, and a touch of flinty notes. Rounded and supple, full of dark raspberry and plum fruit, and lifted with floral notes make this a great value supper wine. It comes from a grand estate close to Carcassonne where the Château was built by the same architect as Versailles and where King Louis XIII left his travelling bed, possibly in the hope of a return visit.
Clément-Pichon offers blackcurrant and raspberry aromas on the nose, quite pure and airy, well defined if not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit laced with graphite and tobacco, well knit with an elegant finish.

This north-facing limestone site is cool and late ripening. In a warm year like 2019 its quality soars. There is such a fine acidity and outstanding length. I was really blown away by this, and can’t wait to see how the fruit and acidity entwine further with some bottle age. Nervous and tense, this warrants attention.
A very fresh and decidedly peppery nose features pretty notes of red berries and an elegant floral nuance. There is fine intensity and volume to the well-detailed middle weight flavors that deliver very good length on the saline-inflected finish. Good stuff that could be enjoyed young or aged for a few years to good effect.
Le Lion de la Fleur de Bouard 2020 is a captivating wine that showcases the artistry of winemaking. On the nose, it opens with an enticing bouquet of ripe black cherries, complemented by delicate hints of dried flowers, savory black olives, and a touch of warming cloves, creating a complex and inviting aroma.
