Color: A bright dark wine shot through with highlights.Nose: The noticeable red fruit in the nose is accompanied by aromas of cinnamon and spice.Mouth: Full of jammy red fruit (strawberry), rounded and well-balanced and finishes on notes of spice (vanilla, pepper). The youthful tannins mean it will last quite a while.
The Deau XO is a blend of cognacs sourced mostly from Petite Champagne and Fins Bois and aged in small Limousin oak wood barrels for 10 to 15 years. Deep amber color and mahogany nuances. Floral (jasmine, violet) and fruit aromas (dry plum, cinnamon).
This unique bottling is a blend of Cognacs coming from ten demijohns dated from 1853-1906. So all of the Cognacs in the blend are well over 100 years old and almost all of the blend comes from the 19th century (making it considerably older than the most famous, big brand prestige cuvées like Louis XIII or Richard Hennessy). In fact, the Extreme looks like a downright bargain when compared to such wines (in both quality and price terms).
