This Pinot Noir comes from the Petaluma Gap. The Gap is a smaller AVA within Sonoma County and is known for afternoon winds and cool temperatures through much of the growing season. The vines are often shrouded in fog which makes for a long, cool growing season and maximum flavors. Grapes are hand harvested. Lots are 100% destemmed to lessen tannins, and whole berries are transferred to tank.
The 2017 The Flight is all about sensuality and nuance, both of which it has in spades. Precise and aromatically expressive with striking finesse, the 2017 is also a rare Flight that is going to drink well right out of the gate.
The ancient Georgian word "Gemieri" is translated as tasty and mainly referred to the definition of sweetness. The blend of tree red varietals Aleksandrouli, Saperavi and Malbec shows prominent red and black fruit mix, with light sweetness and balanced astringency. Food matching: ideal for drinking with baked ham and sausages. Serve at +14-16°C.
The wine has a beautiful ruby red color, with aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, sweet spices, and earth. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a smooth, fruity taste that is balanced by a long, dry finish. The flavors are reminiscent of undergrowth, with an underlying hint of mentriendhol that adds complexity to the wine. The tannins are well-integrated and provide a velvety texture, while the acidity is fresh and lively, making this wine a true pleasure to drink and share.
