From the commune of Savigny-en-Véron, the 2020 Chinon Les Barnabés is sourced from the alluvial soils of the Loire and the gravels from the Vienne. The wine opens pure, clear and fresh, but it's also deep and concentrated, with spicy notes of ripe cherries, black berries, raspberries and violets.
100% Glera, Prosecco DOC from the Hills around Treviso area. Grapes are meticulously selected both for area of origin and quality. The soft pressed must is stored in steel tanks for the static cold decanting.
Grivot's 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Roncières has a clean, quite pure bouquet with cranberry, bergamot and wild hedgerow aromas, developing rose petal/pressed flower scents with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, fleshy and rounded with a caressing, poised finish that keeps you coming back for another sip.
As it should, this presently has an entirely different aromatic profile with its ripe and fresh combination of earth and sauvage characters together with both red and dark currant scents.
Aromas of fresh violets and roses, ripe cherries, plums, clove, and a touch of bacon fat leap out of the glass and definitely raise eyebrows. On the palate, it’s sleek, silky, and complete.
The lieux-dit, Chambertin is charged with prestige. Perhaps one of Burgundy's most aristocratic appellations and greatest terroir. The domaine purchased its parcel in 1919 and the goal has been always to show off the underlying terroir, creating soil-driven and absolutely pure wines harkening to an earlier era.
Every wine by Domaine Lucien Boillot is a classic representation of its appellation–from Volnay and Pommard to Gevrey and Nuits-Saint-Georges, as Pierre’s work in the cellars is geared towards transparent, terroir-driven wines of purity and finesse.
Bruno Lorenzon Mercurey Le Chapitre Rouge 2022 is an elegant and expressive Burgundy red wine that captures the essence of the Mercurey appellation. With refined aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and delicate floral notes, it offers a beautifully balanced palate with silky tannins and a long, complex finish.
The 2021 Échézeaux Grand Cru has turned out beautifully in bottle, bursting with aromas of wild strawberries, spruce, baking spices and orange zest, followed by a full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping palate that's taken on appreciable mid-palate fat and dimension since I tasted it from barrel last year.
Fragrant bouquet with floral notes, sweet spices and smoke, more black fruit, like black cherry, then red fruit. Intense, supple, dense and powerful. Two brothers of diverse wine-making backgrounds come together in the elaboration of Durigutti wines.
