Warming and deliciously rich nose, the palates foundation is centered on vanilla and oak, with light brown sugar, caramel, and a fruit salad-like pop of sweetness that balances the oak.
Andosol draws inspiration from the historic field blends of California. The inherent stress the rugged site lends to grape growing will saturate the grapes with intensity and depth. The inaugural release of Ben Glaetzer’s Godolphin Shiraz Cabernet, the 2004 vintage, received rave reviews from the world’s wine press with US critic Robert Parker describing it as “the stuff of legends….. the apogee of Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking talents”, scoring it 96-98 points. UK wine writer Mathew Dukes was equally impressed writing “This is the earth shatteringly brilliant younger brother to Amon-Ra, and it's a hedonistic Shiraz/Cabernet blend. Where Amon-Ra is, admittedly, totally over the top, Godolphin is near perfection.”
