The 2021 Vino Rosso N Contrada Valle is dark and rich in the glass, with a balsamic flourish that gives way to mentholated herbs and dried black cherries. This is soft and soothing on the palate with ripe wild berry fruits and zesty citrus tones under an air of violet inner florals. It leaves a staining of red plum and spice, tapering off lightly tannic and with a bitter tinge that puckers the cheeks. This varietal Nero d'Avola reveals unexpected depths and complexity.
The 2013 Cariad Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot, shows great intensity, with a slightly more burning ember and scorched earthiness to it, giving it a more Graves-like character compared to the purity of the Tychson Hill.
From a region known for creating sometimes burly wines, this lower-alcohol, fruit-driven cuvée from declassified Bandol vines is a refreshingly vibrant wine from Provence. Blooming with fresh berry fruits and mild tannin, it’s a beacon of hope that fresh wines are still possible in this increasingly hot region.
Kosher wine. 100% fermented Pomegranate. Produced and bottled by the Mrgavan branch of Dozortsev & Sons Enterprises LTD in Armenia. This wine wine is supple, tart, and fruity and has good structure and freshness.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch might be the best Napa Valley Cabernet out there under $100. Based on 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, it offers a full-bodied, round, sexy style that can be difficult to find in a vintage like 2017.
Valenciso Reserva 2014 is made from 100% Tempranillo aged 17 months in fine grained French oak. Highly polished, tightly wound and elegant wine with refined aromatics. Fine tannins provide a silky texture, leading to a persistent finish of red berries and sweet oak. Blossoms both in body and flavor with decantation and will age gracefully for years, in the manner of top Burgundy.
Deep colored. Ripe and peppery on the nose. Full and fleshy on the palate. Earthy fruits balanced with nice acidity and a medium length on the finish.
One of the legendary winemakers of the world, Bruno Giacosa crafted the most prestigious single-vineyard Barolo and Barbaresco wines during a career that spanned nearly eight decades. He joined the family business at the age of 15, representing the third generation of his Langhe winemaking family.
This generous, ripe wine is full of black fruits that have been smoothed by wood aging. Its balanced texture and fruitiness have some of the region's minerality as well as a fresh aftertaste.
Wine of great structure, austere and long-lived. Dry and full flavor with spicy notes. Excellent with important meats and aged cheeses.
