Vega Sicilia is widely regarded as the greatest wine producer in Spain. The estate in Ribera del Duero is known for its dense, complex red wines made principally from the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grape variety. Its top wine, Unico, is one of Spain's most expensive and sought-after wines.
On the nose, the wine leaps from the glass with ripe blackberry, cassis, black cherry, and red plum, with a lovely herbaceous undertone. The palate expresses juicy red and black fruits with hints of black tea, damp earth, vanilla bean, lavender, and just a touch of flint.
A SPARKLING CITRUS SEDUCTRESS. As seductive as a siren’s call, no mortal palate has ever refused this rosy refreshment. 100% agave spirit is divinely infused with radiant ruby red and pink grapefruit, embraced with an aromatic basil caress.
A wine of a straw yellow color, clean, bright and with medium intensity. Very expressive on the nose with notes of fresh white flowers and fruit. The passage through the mouth is fresh and persistent, but without losing the balanced acidity typical of Godello.
“Viña Ijalba”
Those words had been following us around Rioja like a strange echo. Their name surfaced in nearly every cellar we went to—yet the estate remained mysterious. It didn’t take long before we gave in to temptation and scheduled a visit.
A great deal of volume and presence on the nose. In the mouth, it is perhaps the fleshiest of all, and the one already showing the greatest balance. This is a fine example of a great terroir that acts as a filter to receive and to master the force of the sun.
Pungent and potent, this is the great Islay malt. With richly peaty, deep, smoky flavors, it has an intense, long, ambrosial finish. Since 1816, Lagavulin single malt Scotch whisky has been made in a picturesque huddle of buildings on Lagavulin Bay.
Medium-high depth wine, ruby red colour with roof tile rim, which denotes its long barrel ageing and its peaceful bottle ageing. Powerful on the nose with primary aromas of ripe fruit accompanied by complex spicy and balsamic notes and a slight touch of vanilla.
Ocho has many distinctive qualities. Here are the ones we think are the most important: First, Tequila Ocho is made by Carlos Camarena, a third generation Tequilero, in partnership with Tomas Estes, the “Ambassador of Tequila to the European Union.”
