For the sixth release of the Master Blender Collection, Mount Gay Master Blender Trudiann Branker has put together a blend with some of the oldest rum stocks in the Mount Gay bonds. A classic Bajan blend of pot and column distillates, both had been aged in ex-American whiskey casks for 20 years in Barbados, where both the heat and humidity accentuate the interaction with the casks. This tropical aging process created deeply aromatic flavours of burnt oak and toasted vanilla.
Glengoyne is a distillery like no other. Taking its name from the glen in which it sits. - 'Glen Guin' or 'Glen of the Wild Geese' - it is hghly regarded as Scotland's most beautiful distillery. Residing close to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park - nestled into Dumgoyne Hill. Six guiding pricinciples keep us true to our past, true to our taste. To change just one element would be to alter the bold, complex flavours of Glengoyne.
This unique bottling is a blend of Cognacs coming from ten demijohns dated from 1853-1906. So all of the Cognacs in the blend are well over 100 years old and almost all of the blend comes from the 19th century (making it considerably older than the most famous, big brand prestige cuvées like Louis XIII or Richard Hennessy). In fact, the Extreme looks like a downright bargain when compared to such wines (in both quality and price terms).
Herzog Variations Oak is a special wine series that journeys beyond the variations of California wine country, and into the Battle of the Barrels. We start with North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon separated into two different types of oak barrels and see which one will come out on top. Oak barrels are a winemaker's spice rack, allowing them to vary the color, flavor, profile and texture of the wine.
