A gorgeous vintage. A liquorice bomb, nevertheless. Some rose and candied characteristics. Unsurprisingly grippy tannins. Good with oily tomato pesto and ravioli. After giving it some time to breath there's bold cassis and prunes to complement the slightly more toned-down liquorice.
Monte Degli Angeli Barolo 2019 is a dry, velvety red wine with subtle yellowish-orange hints, a result of its ageing process. Aged for three years in large oak foudres and six months in bottle, it presents a surprisingly approachable and friendly style, with delicate notes of rose petal, orange peel, black cherry, and balsam.
The prolonged stage in wooden casks give the wine unique quality and characteristics. It is clear and auburn, with greenish spots and so concentrate that is has some viscosity.
