The flavor profile is a tasty fig, brown sugar and mild rum blend. I also detected hints of apricot, milk chocolate, and oak that added to its complexity. The finish remains sweet and displays controlled heat for this style of wine. This dessert wine would be a perfect match for pecan pie and a good way to finish off an evening.
The 2019 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a powerful, searing wine. Red cherry fruit, leather, cedar, mint, iron, white pepper and dried flowers build in a mid-weight, tannic Barolo that is going to need time to be at its best. There is good tension and energy, but my impression is that the 2019 is recovering from its bottling, as it is very tight and sinewy in feel today.
