CastelGiocondo 2017 has an intense, bright ruby-red color. Like every vintage, 2017 brought with it a wonderfully elegant quality. The bouquet features fruity aromas, particularly at the beginning, with notes of raspberry, blackcurrant and even pomegranate.
Quintarelli is considered the father of Amarone, with an ancient history that dates back to the early 1900s in Negrar, the epicenter of Valpolicella, where between 12 hectares of vineyards and with the utmost respect for tradition, about 50,000 bottles a year are produced for a production niche and therefore of great quality.
Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri Sassicaia is an absolute excellence, the only wine in Italy to have earned a specific DOC designation: Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.With its enveloping, intense and exciting character, this wine is a true oenological legend. It is the best known in the world as it perfectly embodies balance in terms of body and complexity. It is produced on the Tenuta San Guido estate. Its unique, impervious terrain, limestone formations and high stony content (hence the name 'Sassicaia') have created the perfect conditions for this treasure of oenology to germinate.
Clear, firm, quite fresh aroma of red and a little black berries with floral nuances and a touch of citrus zest as well as hints of soup herbs and tar. Taut, tart, juicy, youthful fruit, nutty aromas, a little cocoa and a hint of coffee, some acidity, present, yet fine tannin, persistent, has power, salt in the background, also a little herbs and pepper, quite polished, very good, juicy and spicy finish with traction.
The 2019 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a powerful, searing wine. Red cherry fruit, leather, cedar, mint, iron, white pepper and dried flowers build in a mid-weight, tannic Barolo that is going to need time to be at its best. There is good tension and energy, but my impression is that the 2019 is recovering from its bottling, as it is very tight and sinewy in feel today.
The Altero was made from a selection of the best wine in the cellar. Aged for 30 months in French oak tonneaux (500 l), followed by 18 months of bottle refinement, the vintage is definitely cellar worthy. Juicy red currants, cherries, and sprigs of fresh rosemary are robed in vanilla and baking spice with just a wisp of smoke. Best with BBQ or lightly smoked meats and cheeses.
This full-bodied wine offers intense aromas and flavors of red berries offset by notes of leather and incense, supported by firm, elegant tannins. Tenute Silvio Nardi's classic Brunello is a blend of the finest grapes from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates.
