This Beautiful Château is surrounded by 29 acres of vines located in the village of Gensac. The hilly Bordeaux Region overlooks the Dorgogne River, and is a fantastic place to produce the famous Bordeaux Blend. With its charming ruby color and delicate nose of red fruit aromas, this wine offers full body and supple mouth with a long finish.
Sourced from several plots all situated in the lieu-dit of Les Boucauds, this cuvée employs close to 50% of the Sauvignon Blanc planted on the estate. Entirely from terres blanches soils – marls and clays over Kimmeridgian limestone – this wine represents a pure expression of this site as well as the deft winemaking of Stéphane Riffault.
The Montagny "Les Buys" 2023 shows a pale yellow color with green highlights. The nose reveals aromas of white peach and brioche. A full-bodied wine with a nice minerality on the finish.
Domaine Jacques Prieur Volnay 1er Cru Clos de Santenots is a 3-acre, walled parcel of the greater Santenots vineyard well situated on the center slope with a due eastern exposure on the southern boundary of the Volnay appellation.
The name Colline aux Fossiles may seem fanciful, but there are actually old, weathered fossils mixed in this site’s gravelly soils. The Colline Aux Fossiles Chardonnay is picked when the flavors are rich and ripe but when there is still plenty of natural acidity remaining in the grapes.
2022 is an outstanding Burgundy vintage: a warm and dry year that has produced wines with very high levels of ripeness and power, but which remain beautifully balanced and fresh-tasting too. The quality of the grapes was as good as many growers had ever seen.
Plummy purple in colour with aromas of ripe red and black fruit on the nose. On the palate it is silky and smooth with a hint of spice from the Cabernet grapes. Supple tannins are also present, but not overpowering.
Tasted at the château, the 2005 Chateau d’Yquem delivers a similar performance as last year. Lucid in colour, the bouquet is detailed with very pure honey, vanilla and almond scents, still a little new oak to be fully assimilated but demonstrating superb focus.

The domaine purchased its parcel in 1919 and the goal has been always to show off the underlying terroir, creating soil-driven and absolutely pure wines harkening to an earlier era.
