The finest rendition of this cuvée to date, Santenay Les Vignes Denses derives from high-density plantings in lieu-dit Les Prarons. Unwinding in the glass with notions of crisp Anjou pear, lemon oil, vanilla pod and crushed chalk, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, with a deep core of fruit that's framed by chalky dry extract and racy acids. This is worth a special effort to seek out.
This Grape is a 100% Merlot. Its scent of Red Berries (Strawberry, Rasberry) and Cherries. Its taste is fine, light semi sweet wild red berries with soft tannins.
Deep red and blue fruits dance with saline minerals, licorice, crushed flowers, gamey underbrush, and spice in this vibrant, velvety ’11 Morey-St-Denis. Fine-grained, polished tannins coat the cheeks as this wine crosses the palate with a silky, sophisticated feel.
The 2012 is quite pale at the present time, with brilliant green highlights. The nose is well-defined and mineral. Still very young and quite elegant, this wine has yet to reveal its full complexity.
Thanks to night harvesting, the cuvee benefits from several hours of low temperature skin-contact maceration. The different grape varietals are vinified separately with temperature controlled at 60 degrees F following cold settling.
Pale lemon, with a beautifully perfumed nose, ripe but stopping short of honeysuckle. The minerals come up from behind, there is an altogether thicker texture on the palate, confit lemons, volume and length.
