The Serra Pedace vineyard is a high-elevation site that was named after ancestors Frank and Rose Leonetti’s hometown in Calabria, Italy. The 2018 offers anise, tar and black licorice notes combined with suggestions of black cherry syrup on the nose.
Naturally Sweet Pinot Noir is the newest addition to the Robert Mondavi Private Selection collection. With zero added sugars, Naturally Sweet Pinot Noir is made sweet through arrested fermentation, leaving some of the natural sugars from the grapes before converting to alcohol, the company says.
The origin of Lot C-91 began in the fall of 1969 when Joe Heitz created this one-off cuvée, which was very normal in those days, as a more premium version of his already iconic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon bottling. Joe envisioned Lot C-91 as a greater step up in quality from the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with a higher quality of fruit sourcing, coming exclusively from the sought-after single vineyards of Heitz Cellar.
This lovely, bright and cheery Sauvignon Blanc proffers tantalizing aromas of grapefruit, pineapple and gooseberry, with hints of quince. Floral notes of lemongrass and acacia are balanced with lychee and wet stone.
The 2020 vintage began with textbook conditions that continued through much of Harvest. The 2020 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of dark blue fruits and spices. Notes of cassis, sweet licorice and a juicy core of fruit are balanced by nice acidity and a silky, lingering finish.
The 2021 Bella Union presents a luscious nose of ripe black cherry, plum, strawberry, opulent berry compote and cassis. The entry is rich and inviting with succulent flavors reminiscent of cherry pie.
The proprietary name Insignia was selected to represent the finest lots available from each vintage, and to emphasize the importance of blending over varietal designation as a determinate of quality.
