The 2017 “IX Estate” beams from the glass with a feeling of purpose and a sense of place. In its youth, this vintage has continually shown enhanced soil driven aromas such as iron and graphite along with the sappy wild sage that grows in the periphery of this site.
Lovely pear, red apple, stone fruit, lemon zest, along with hints of spice and floral notes. The palate has really good concentration, but remains vibrant and juicy with great balance and tension.

Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon has a long and mysterious history here in California. It originally arrived in Napa Valley from Mendoza, Argentina in 1964. How it made its way to South America is still unclear, presumably with French winemakers who were leaving Bordeaux in the late 1800s as phylloxera was devastating the region.
The 2017 The Flight is all about sensuality and nuance, both of which it has in spades. Precise and aromatically expressive with striking finesse, the 2017 is also a rare Flight that is going to drink well right out of the gate.
