North is the new Pinot Noir from the Central Coast Rhone Master John Alban. Extremely limited.
Greeted with the viscous, ripe fruit of jammy blackberries hanging on sun warmed vines, this Zinfandel is enticing and aromatic.Weightier than previous vintages, there’s a sturdy structure that is saturated with dark fruits, laced with hints of lavender and savory herbs.
Bold aromas rise out of the glass, recalling blackberries and black cherry cola supported by hints of spicy cloves. A rich texture on the palate supported by supple tannins make this wine a perfect combination of finesse and power.
Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. Not only did she love poetry, she also loved cooking, science, and wine.
A rich, dense ruby color hints at the dark fruit nose of blackberry and currant that carries through to the palate, interwoven with complex aromas of black licorice, anise and creme de cassis.
Quarry Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon always offers an intriguing combination of flavors, and this vintage is no exception. Its aromas of cherry, dried herb, and tobacco are reflected in the flavors on the palate, with additional earth and mineral notes.
Blend: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, 2% Cab Franc
Aromatic notes of boysenberry jam and juicy blackcurrant. Hints of chocolate combine with elegant notes of leather and spice to create a complex, lingering finish.
93 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “Gandona's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Encosta features scents of crushed stone and pencil shavings layered atop ripe plums and black cherries. While it's full-bodied, with some grainy tannins, it's not unapproachable, with a long, dusty-textured finish.
The intriguing dark rosewood color of this wine is accentuated by tantalizing aromas. The dominant fruit scents favor black plums, currants and other darker fruits, with more complex aromas of graphite and smoked meats.
Pinot Noir from limestone and decomposed granite soils of Enz Vineyard in Lime Kiln Valley (San Benito County). The Enz family has been farming this site since 1967 (the vineyard is also notable for Mourvedre, where the old vines date to 1895).
