The ripest fruit was selected from the Lodi, Delta, and Clarksburg areas for their Chardonnay wine and they're proud to offer it as the perfect complement to their red wines. The 2021 Dark Horse Chardonnay underwent alcoholic fermentation with hand-selected yeast and then a secondary malolactic fermentation to create a round, full mouthfeel. It showcases rich flavors of baked apple and pear, layered with toasted oak, notes of caramel, and brown spice with a lingering, smooth finish.
The 2019 vintage marks the fortieth Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon release from Joseph Phelps Vineyards. This latest bottling highlights beautiful aromatics of dark fruit, cigar box, dried herbs, graphite notes and pain grille. Expressive Bing cherry, licorice, blueberry and blackberry layer this silky smooth wine of great depth and personality. Richly nuanced with supple tannins and a lingering velvety finish.
Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson.
