The lieux-dit, Chambertin is charged with prestige. Perhaps one of Burgundy's most aristocratic appellations and greatest terroir. The domaine purchased its parcel in 1919 and the goal has been always to show off the underlying terroir, creating soil-driven and absolutely pure wines harkening to an earlier era.
Full and velvety on the palate, the nose releases powerful fragrances of ripe strawberries. Goes well with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
The 2022 Hess Maverick Ranches Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon offers rich and bold flavors of dark fruit, including blackberry and plum, complemented by notes of chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of spice. The wine is well-structured with firm tannins and a long, smooth finish.
On the nose, the wine leaps from the glass with ripe blackberry, cassis, black cherry, and red plum, with a lovely herbaceous undertone. The palate expresses juicy red and black fruits with hints of black tea, damp earth, vanilla bean, lavender, and just a touch of flint.
Crafted in 6 ton fermentors, the cap management was primarily pump and pour overs combined with a few rack and returns. Spontaneously fermented by indigenous yeast, each fermentor reached temperatures between 87-90 degrees F.
The Altero was made from a selection of the best wine in the cellar. Aged for 30 months in French oak tonneaux (500 l), followed by 18 months of bottle refinement, the vintage is definitely cellar worthy.
This 2019 year a blend of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer, Boxler’s Edelzwicker is a kaleidoscope of the flavors, aromas, and textures of Alsace—presented, of course, in the inimitable house style.
Thanks to night harvesting, the cuvee benefits from several hours of low temperature skin-contact maceration. The different grape varietals are vinified separately with temperature controlled at 60 degrees F following cold settling.
A delicious Rioja featuring grapes picked from three sub-areas of the region, this wine is intense on the nose and smooth on the palate. Notes of juicy red berries, cocoa, cedar, and herbs lead to a pleasantly long finish. We love it paired with bean dishes, soups and stews, or grilled meat; it's a go-to red for us as cooler weather approaches.
Approachable and lively with red cherry and savory herbs, medium body and a long finish.
