The Mae Estate vineyard is located above Highway 246, the northern corridor of the Sta. Rita Hills. Just fifteen miles from the Pacific Ocean, Mae is host to ocean winds and fog and comprised of marine sedimentary soils.
This reserve wine is meticulously crafted from grapes harvested from the finest plots. The blend is carefully composed and then aged in French oak barrels for a period of 9 months.
Naturally semi-sweet wine made from the Saperavi grape variety cultivated in Kindzmarauli micro-viniculture area in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains. Saperavi grapes lend balance to the sugar resulting in a well structured wine.
The 2021 The Flight is composed of 65% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 16% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it waltzes out with flamboyant notes of juicy black raspberries, ripe plums, and boysenberry preserves followed by hints of cinnamon toast, rosebud tea, garrigue, and iron ore.
A clean, bright, pretty red color, developing to maroon. Intense and highly complex aromas. Notes of stewed fruit. Sweet and warm hints from the barrel, and spicy nuances in the background (cinnamon). Nice and long on the palate.
