Matias Riccitelli Malbec The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree 2021 showcases a deep violet color and a captivating bouquet of red fruits, vanilla, and chocolate. On the palate, it offers a rich and complex profile with soft, ripe tannins that lead to a long and satisfying finish.
The 2017 Gran Reserva Malbec is selected from old Vines from Mendoza and undergoes 15 months aging in new French and American oak. It integrates the oak with aplomb, the nose is vibrant and well-defined, with notes of cassis, blueberry and blackberry. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, silky tannins enhanced by a patina of dark chocolate-tinged black fruit. The texture of the wine will perfectly compliment many good meat dishes.
In its first aromatic expression, this red wine reveals itself as an earth wine, with elegant aromas reminiscent of herbs and wet mud, hints of thyme, red and black fruits, and notes of jam. Clear and clean-tasting, fresh and direct mouth attack; round, yet with nerve.
Picabuey Malbec Reserve 2019 is a red wine hailing from Argentina, known for its robust and expressive Malbec wines. The 2019 vintage offers a rich and full-bodied experience, with the Malbec grape expressing its characteristic dark fruit flavors, such as blackberry and plum, along with subtle hints of spice and a velvety texture.
This wine opens generously with layered aromas of black cherry, plum and currant, roasted coffee, unsweetened cacao, crushed violets, vanilla and nutmeg. Driven by energetic acidity, the palate is tied together by firm tannins, also integrating a glycerin-like, rounded body from the alcohol.
The tones of red berry jam are expressed, the scent of honey and red orange is also noticeable. An interesting balance of sweetness and acidity is felt, which makes it even more attractive and memorable. Serve at 6-7°C. Goes well with crispy cakes.
The Chasselas grape—a specialty of Switzerland, where it represents the most commonly planted white variety and is responsible for some truly spectacular wines—also has a small Alsatian stronghold, with roughly one hundred hectares to its name.
The Lindstrom Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on one of the warmer sites in Stags Leap District, shows off the cooler season to its full advantage, while still retaining the ripe cherry and cocoa powder characteristics so indicative of this growing area.
