The intense, dusty-black fruit flavors have warm intermingling of the Rye whiskey flavors. It tastes like a sumptuous wine, but then it has transformed into a different animal, with the Rye whiskey aromas and tastes.
The wine appears a pale straw, then releases long-lasting, emphatic notes of fruit and flowers, including summer flowers, pear, and hazelnut, that evolve into hints of tropical fruit and honey.
The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumaux, from vines planted in 1946, was cropped at just six to ten hectoliters per hectare this year. It has a harmonious bouquet of Granny Smith apples, fresh pear and subtle scents of passion fruit that betray the sunny period at the end of the growing season. The palate is fresh and crisp with a fine bead of acidity, very succinct and poised with a delightful salinit on the finish. Excellent.
[yellow tail] Chardonnay has a distinctive nose that leaps from the glass and displays a lovely tropical-fruit aroma. The wine is silky smooth and easy to drink, with rich tropical-fruit flavors and a rich, crisp, creamy, and refreshing finish.
A deft balancing act between luscious black fruit and herbal notes of black olive and fresh mint—the two sides of merlot. Currently the softest and most expansive on the palate with loads of blackberry leading the way.
