Meticulous, selective harvesting, sorting and fermentation process of a unique blend of 3 varietals originating historically from Spain, produced a premium, Mediterranean style wine, with an emphasis on aromatic spice, potency and complexity of the flavors typical of these varietals.
From the raw, untamed beauty of the Western Cape, J. Folk wine fuses a modern South African soul with traditional winemaking methods expressed in the features of this fine wine. The result is a spirited selection resonating the people & places of its colorful origin. Lively ripe red cherries, plums and delicate spice notes, with a smooth velvety texture leaving a delightful aftertaste.
The Cognac region consists of six vineyard growth areas, called 'Crus'. The grapes used for Cognac brandy must always come from this French region. The area covers the Charente-Maritime, a large part of the Charente and some smaller parts of Deux-Sevres and the famous Dordogne.
Stéphane Usseglio, son of Raymond, has taken over the domaine in the last few years and he is pushing to reach the potential of the family’s holdings, some of he best of Châteauneuf. Half his vines are situated near the road in the lieu-dit “La Crau” and the other half on the hill across the road from the actual ruins of the new castle of the Pope.
