Infused drinks have ancient origins: they were popular as far back as 3,000 years ago in ancient China and later in ancient Greece. In the Middle Ages, vodka infusions appeared in Eastern Europe and spread rapidly. Unfortunately, many of these original recipes were lost to time. We have tried to recreate these unique drinks using historical records from the Russian Empire and we present them for you to discover.

Taragawa is the largest producer on Miyakojima island. Taragawa has a team of just five producing about 1000 Kiloliters per year. Surrounded by sugarcane fields, the distillery was established in 1948. Taragawa uses the hinekoji method which allows a special black mold to propagate for 3 days, creating a strong flavor and aroma suited for long aging.
