Flavor profile: Toffee, dark chocolate, winter spices, heather honey, aromatic peat smoke, slight saltiness. 2002 Vintage, aged for a minimum of 15 years in the cool northern climate of Orkney causing this whisky to age slowly and evenly, providing balanced maturation and depth of flavor.
“Madly sited”, perched high between two mountain ranges on a pass once a meeting point for cattle drovers on their way to market. The name Dalwhinnie translates from Gaelic as “Plain of Meetings”. Surviving periods of closure, the distillery has produced its distinctive single malt since 1947, only being completely modernized in 1996.

Like a safety pin through the septum, a classic Ardbeg herbal top note is present, while swirling, smoky bonfire and molasses loiter backstage.

PALATE: A delightful sweetness, evoking memories of candied fruits and vanilla toffee, balanced with heather honey. FINISH: A satisfying light spice, with a rewarding burst of honeyed malt and sweet oakiness.

Very sweet with a smooth, creamy texture, this is a Speyside whisky with chocolate and custard notes early on that indicate the dessert nature of this tipple, with slight zesty, tropical fruity notes showing that it also has a vibrant side. There are lemon notes throughout this dram, as well as vanilla sponge and marzipan that demonstrate the softer side of this whisky.
