The 2011 Encosta is an inky purple wine. A very full bodies wine of fully ripe lush black & red fruits such as Bing cherry, black currants, and black plum dominate the aromatics and flavors. Secondary aromatics of dried tobacco, hot volcanic rock, and purple flowers are on full display.
Deeply saturated in color, the 2009 Aida Estate Cabernet opens with explosive aromas of ripe cherries, scorched earth, and fresh tobacco leaf. The fruit was picked at optimal ripeness translating to a palate that is lush, rich, concentrated, and layered with dark chocolate shavings, tar, and graphite.
Density and concentration are delivered along with subtlety and nuance, an unusual combination in Napa Valley. The power of the vintage shows through, with intense aromatic notes of black fruits, cedar, and gravel, tightly knit with a strong tannic structure.
There is a lovely finesse to the wines, a complexity of ripe red fruits, spice, and dried currants. The underlying power intensifies the mid palate providing a background of layers that linger far into the finish for a smooth, balance finale.
Quarry Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon always offers an intriguing combination of flavors, and this vintage is no exception. Its aromas of cherry, dried herb, and tobacco are reflected in the flavors on the palate, with additional earth and mineral notes.
A deft balancing act between luscious black fruit and herbal notes of black olive and fresh mint—the two sides of merlot. Currently the softest and most expansive on the palate with loads of blackberry leading the way.
