Bruichladdich Octomore 14.2

No exaggeration – here’s a dram for those who seriously reflect on flavour, want high ABV and relish super heavily peated whiskies.

We mustn’t forget with Octomore that it’s much more than a peat monster. Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, has given us here something with serious flavour. We have here complexity, sweetness and fruitiness which work to offset the smoky, peaty elements.

Octomore 14.2 is a peated Islay single malt, aged for five years in first-fill Oloroso hogsheads (40%), first-fill Amarone casks (16%), second-fill Amarone casks (44%). The phenol content of the malted barley in this whisky is 128.9 ppm, which makes it super heavily peated.

It has notes of pear, prune, red currant, cinnamon, green apple, black pepper, cereal, coffee, barbeque sweetness and dried fruits and comes at a strength of 59.6% ABV.

This is a wonderful whisky from a distillery that rightfully has cult status among whisky enthusiasts.
