Faustino I Gran Reserva 2010
The distinctive portrait on the front label depicting a Dutch merchant painted by Rembrandt (1641) reflects the family's passion for art and trading. Sweet vanilla notes of American oak, plenty of bright cherry fruit, and a fine, delicate palate. Aged for 26 months in French and American oak barrels. Pair with flavorful fish like tuna, red meat, game, or medium-cured cheeses such as manchego and emmental.
Established in 1861 by Eleuterio Martinez Arzok, who set out on a journey selling his Rioja wines direct from the barrel, working from the back of a horse-drawn cart. In the late 1950s, Eleuterio's equally adventurous descendant, Faustino Martinez, launched the Faustino label. Bodegas Faustino is located in Oyon, Rioja Alavesa, Spain. It has earned a world-wide reputation for the quality of its Rioja. Owning 1,606 acres of carefully tended vineyards, Faustino is virtually self sufficient in producing some of its best wines. Located in the upper part of Rioja Alavesa, the vineyards enjoy the best geographical and climatic conditions needed to produce the highest-quality wines.
