Barkan Chardonnay Reserve Mevushal 2021
Barkan Reserve Chardonnay is from the Barkan Winery, the second largest in Israel. It was founded in 1990, and its head winemaker is Ed Salzberg. The winery moved to Kibbutz Hulda near Rehovot in 2000.
Barkan's Reserve Chardonnay is produced using only carefully selected, hand-picked Chardonnay grapes grown in vineyards in the Jerusalem corridor. At the onset of fermentation approximately one third of the juice is separated to complete fermentation in new oak barrels. This portion remains in barrels for 6 months before being blended with the balance of the wine that is tank fermented at low temperatures. The resulting wine is an elegant, complex blend of the buttery character of the barrel fermentation and the clean crisp freshness of mountain grown Chardonnay. It has received several Gold Medals from Chardonnay du Monde.
