Ares de Medeiros Tinto 2013
Ares de Medeiros reprents those migratory birds that annually pass through this estate. Full-flavored with fresh fruit aroma. Medium- to full-bodied wine, nice and fresh on the attack. Spicy, red berries with soft and elegant tannins. Should be served at 61–64 degrees F, but best served at 60 degrees F.
75% Touriga Nacional, 14% Aragonez (Tempranillo), 11% Syrah. Produced and estate bottled by Tahors, Lda. (AKA Herdade de Medeiros). Herdade de Medeiros ("Land of Medeiros"), in the south region of Portugal, is the result of the passion and determination of its owner Antonio Agostinho Marques Figueira de Chaves who, after a visit to the region of Serpa-Pia, decided to completely change his life. He sold his business in Lisbon and planted a vineyard on this estate. The winery was built on the ruins of a barn more than 200 years old—a fact that undoubtedly makes it unique. It was designed with the utmost care in order to store their greatest "treasure" of grapes, but never abandoning its original design. At the vineyards of Herdade de Medeiros, the typical prairie-like landscape is interrupted by a large, beautiful lake. Year round this lake is inhabited by a large number of birds, both resident and migratory. This wine was produced from Tahora's own, handpicked aragonez, tourgia nactional, and syrah grape varieties. After careful vinification, the wine was then matured in French oak barrels.
