Yarden T2 2017
The 2009 Yarden T2 shows off an aromatic mix of ripe cherries, spice, chocolate, plums, violets, pipe tobacco, cedar, and smoke. An appealing blend of two traditional Portuguese varieties, this rich and sweet fortified wine boasts concentrated flavor. T2 goes wonderfully with an assortment of fine chocolate, a bowl of freshly roasted spiced nuts, a serving of dried fruits, or a plate of hard and blue cheeses.
Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao. Golan Heights Winery was founded in 1983 in the Golan Heights. Here, in this breathtaking strip of land, everything begins with the right conditions—volcanic basaltic soil, suitable topography, and cool high-altitude climate. This unique combination is what gives Golan Heights its second name of "wine country." With over 28 vineyards that span over 1,500 acres and 4 leading brands under their belt (Yarden, Gamla, Mount Hermon, and Golan), Golan Heights Winery has played a significant role in developing and nurturing Israel's current wine culture. Yarden T2 is made from the two Portuguese varieties Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cao, both grown at an altitude of 2,300 feet in Tonatan Springs Vineyard. The fermentation was fortified, resulting in a sweet red wine with great intensity and complexity. Twenty-six months of barrel aging allows the wine to fully develop itself. The 2009 is the second release of Yarden T2. While ready to enjoy now, the 2009 Yarden T2 will improve in the bottle and remain in great drinking condition for years to come.
