Writer's Block Roussanne 2011
Shows varietal aromas and flavors of apricots, pear, some mintiness, menthol, and tea leaf. A characteristically rich, slightly oily texture, bright acidity, and very good integration of acid; slightly spicy finish after a complex and interesting aromatic profile. The mid-palate shows a lean acid structure before inherent richness of the varietal shows itself through a significant and pleasurably dry finish.
A small percentage of Viognier, typically 5% is blended with this Roussanne. Produced and bottled by QMS Group (a trade name of Steele Wines, Inc.), founded in 1991 by Jed Steele. The winery is located in Kelseyville, nestled against the flank of Mt. Konocti in Lake County, just north of the famed Napa Valley. Not only does it have a tasting room, Steele Wines also hosts weekly outdoor farmers' market on Saturdays from May through October, the annual Steele Wines Harvest Festival held the second weekend in October, and famous grape-stomping competitions for children and adults alike.
