The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is showing nicely, opening in the glass with scents of pear, orange oil, clear honey, blanched almonds and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and textural, it’s rich and fleshy, with bright acids girdling its enveloping core of fruit.

A wine with an exceptional freshness, the Quinta Vale D. Maria Vinha da Francisca 2020 stands out for its elegance. With a great depth of color,this wine seduces by the concentration of aromas of ripe red fruits, black cherry, plum and raspberry. In the mouth, its elegance and freshnessannounce a long and creamy finish.

Taste:
The taste of wine, rounded and harmonious, balanced and expressive, with a pleasant acidity. The finish is long, with fruit and hints of mineral nuances.

The 2018 Sancerre Blanc Les Romains offers lovely textural depth and fine balance. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and floral notes add that extra bit of pliancy and resonance that gives the wine its soft curves and open-knit personality. Best of all, the 2018 will drink well right out of the gate.

Medium bodied, for Napa Cab, and very pretty showing violets and loads of blue fruit. A very well balanced wine.

2017 was a very challenging year, as most of their vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja were affected by frost, unlike others in nearby Laguardia. Not only was it frost, but they also had hail later on in the season. Quantities suffered—they told me they lost 70% of the crop in Rioja that year—but they were happy about the quality of the 2017 Macán, being very careful with the fermentation and separating the press wine by quality.
