These village-specific wines are growing in popularity, and among the various expressions on the market today, this wine from Verduno is really quite special thanks to its highly distinctive floral aromas and its delicate sense of inner balance. A new project being inaugurated with this vintage, the Fratelli Alessandria 2019 Barolo del Comune di Verduno shows a fine, streamlined mouthfeel with polished tones of river stone, crushed rose and licorice root. The aromas are refined and fragile. This is a 20,000-bottle release.
Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno is an old school estate that is back on the rise in Piedmont. One of the oldest estates in Piedmont and the first estate on the now famed Cannubi hill. The estate has always remained in the family, but current owner and winemaker Emanuela has been steadily taking this historic estate to new highs.
ForteMasso Nebbiolo Langhe comes from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, we are talking about a wine that best reflects the fruity characteristics of the vine, all thanks to the careful processing that brings out a great taste balance that facilitates gastronomic pairing.
On some level, you are a surrealist with dreams and fantasies. Stella Rosa Platinum French Vanilla is the semi-sweet, semi-sparkling Luxury Collection wine that will take you further into your magical elements; be prepared for something wondrous.
This classic Moscato d'Asti makes for an excellence aperitif or dessert wine. Lightly sparkling, it is a pretty pale yellow in color, intensely fruity, aromatic and lingering. The sweetness is in balance with the low alcohol and acidity that gives this wine a pleasant freshness. It is vinified exclusively in steel tanks.
The 2019 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a powerful, searing wine. Red cherry fruit, leather, cedar, mint, iron, white pepper and dried flowers build in a mid-weight, tannic Barolo that is going to need time to be at its best. There is good tension and energy, but my impression is that the 2019 is recovering from its bottling, as it is very tight and sinewy in feel today.
