Coming on the heels of a prolonged multi-year drought, the 2016 growing season was defined by near-ideal conditions. Rain in March and early April allowed the vines to start the spring with ample moisture in the soil, making for healthy canopies and balanced vines.

The nose is fruity, fresh, relatively fine and offers a fine concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry cream, plum and a hint of cassis jam associated with fine touches of chocolate, cardamom, a discreet hint of tea and a very fine / discreet hint of balsamic.

Amazing aromas of blackcurrants, forest floors, dark tea and wet earth. Rose petals and leaves. Licorice undertones, too. Full-bodied, tight and precise with hazelnuts, rose petals and dark berries.

Notes from the Winemaker:
As we have continued our exploration of the vast diversity that California has to offer, we find ourselves increasingly drawn to the cooler climates. These wines offer vibrancy, freshness and clean delineation that engage both our curiosity and our palate.

The 2014 Experiment H3.4 wine was aged entirely in 300L barrels, known as "logheads," and the resulting wine has great fruit character and vibrancy. It is a wine with both power and focus, exhibiting lively notes of cherry, plum, sage, violets, boysenberry, and black tea.

This is the 2018 ‘Generation VIII’ Cabernet Sauvignon from the Herzog winemaking family. Grown in the Oak Knoll District of Napa County, California, this is a well-balanced red with plenty of oak and dark fruit notes.

Coming from the Ghost Block Vineyard in Yountville, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard displays a deep garnet-purple color and nose of plum preserves, mulberries and blueberry pie with hints of anise, black soil and pepper. Medium-bodied and firm in the mouth.
