The nose is fruity, fresh, relatively fine and offers a fine concentration. It reveals notes of blackberry cream, plum and a hint of cassis jam associated with fine touches of chocolate, cardamom, a discreet hint of tea and a very fine / discreet hint of balsamic.

Candied Bing cherry and fresh hibiscus aromas make this an immediately likable bottling by Jim Nantz and his team, while the star anise, gingerbread and sweet herb aromas add complexity.

Blackberry, cocoa licorice on the nose. Full-bodied palate with fig and plum fruit, chalky tannins, mineral and chaparral notes on the finish.

In the glass, this wine appears inky-black with a velvety core. On the nose, however, you are treated to the lightness of fresh violets, crushed blueberries, and cocoa.

Heavy charred wood aromas and a quite tannic, oaky palate make this full-bodied wine rather stiff and one-dimensional.

This Cabernet Sauvignon truly expresses the depth and complexity of the grape. Perfumed with violets and wild berries, it shows strong varietal characters and rich, ripe plum fruit. Layer Cake Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 3 months in old bourbon barrels, imparting a bolder and more intense character. It's dense, rich and jammy with scents of blackberry and vanilla and a long, mouth coating finish complimented by a hint of sweetness.

With several new vineyard sources in the 2021 vintage, this wine continues to embody the misty and cool Sonoma Coast, with just a hint of creaminess balancing the bracing acidity.
