Grapes for this Chardonnay come from three of our Sonoma Coast Vineyards located to the East of Petaluma - Catapult, Diamond Pile and Tolay Vista. This region is called “The Petaluma Gap”, defined as a corridor of cool air that comes from the Pacific Ocean and flows toward the east through the gap in the Sonoma Mountain range.
This wine holds a special place in our hearts hailing from the birthplace of the Three Sticks story, our first vineyard, laying the foundation for our incredible collection of vineyards. Our original Heritage vineyard, Durell, is highly regarded throughout Sonoma, characterized by its diverse microclimates and rocky volcanic soils.
This Chardonnay exhibits beguiling aromas of vanilla, orange blossoms, crisp apples and toasted marshmallows with a bit of spice from the barrels. Rich and creamy on the palate with notes of zested lemon oil and pear.
Produced from our own steep hillside vineyards which bring out a uniquely textured wine. Planted with the very small berry clone "Old Wente," which is known for balance and aromatic complexity. The growing conditions of 2020 produced a rich yet firm wine. The percentage of new French oak barrels is held to a maximum of 30% to keep vineyard character in the forefront.

Its fresh acidity is complemented by a subtle hint of oak and marzipan from barrel age.
Brilliant yet pale gold in color, the 2021 Hawk Hill Vineyard Chardonnay beams with energy and verve. Vibrant citrus aromas are balanced by an undertone of light clover honey and crushed wet stone. With precise acidity, the palate boasts refined flavors of rangpur lime, linden flower, and limestone. Its distinct minerality and playful salinity are harmonized by its unique texture and breadth, attained by the blend of French oak puncheon & concrete fermentation.

Lively and lemony and racy. Remarkably reminiscent of an Hautes-Côtes Blanc. Lovely texture and great freshness. Very good!
Sitting at almost 1,400 feet above the Sonoma Valley, Charlie Smith is the “ying” to the Ritchie “yang.” Primary aromas of fresh zested lemon, jasmine, and tart pippin apple are followed by secondary aromas of chalk, spearmint, and lightly toasted macadamia.
