From the very top of the hill, the finest site in the Paje vineyard, and vines that are at least 60 years old, Crichet Paje is one of the great wines of Piedmont. The 2012 is surprisingly approachable, but don’t let that fool you.
Aromas of new leather, iris, wet earth and perfumed berry meld together with crushed herbs and spices. The full-bodied, elegant palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, black raspberry, white pepper and a hint of tobacco, while firm acidity and taut, fine-grained tannins lend ageworthy support and finesse.
Dark garnet-ruby color. A mix of small red fruits - raspberries,currants, cherries, rhubarb and pomegranate - with toffee andcola nut, beginning to show secondary characteristics.
Two brothers, Alessandro and Gian Natale Fantino, run this family estate in Monforte d’Alba. Alessandro managed the vineyards and served as the enologist at Cantina Bartolo Mascarello for 20 years, from 1978 to 1997.
A classic style Barolo. Excellent structure, harmony and elegance. Soft tannins and balanced fruit. Approachable, but with a very long ageing potential. Alc. 14.5% by Vol.
This offers aromas suggesting red berry, coconut, underbrush and menthol. On the focused, rather austere palate, tightly wound, close-grained tannins accompany cranberry, pomegranate and roasted coffee bean before a lean, assertive finish.
Intense garnet red color. Notes of raspberry and wild strawberry with floral tones are found on the nose. On the palate, good structure is matched with freshness of fruit and fine tannins.
Eucalyptus leather underbrush and licorice aromas. Linear, firmly structured palate offers dried cherry orange zest coffee bean same licorice note as nose alongside grainy tannins, drying tannins.
Silvio Giamello Vincenzia Barbaresco presents a wonderfully rich, intense aroma of classically styled Barbaresco, layered with underbrush, tobacco, and bitters. A dense and savory palate, framed by firm tannins and plenty of cooling acidity.
