80 years vine age. All wines are hand-harvested and sorted during harvest, maceration lasts 2 or 3 week. Fermentation takes place in Burgundian barrels. Wines are aged on average for 15 months in barrel. No new barrels - barrels are 1 or 2 years old. Wines are not racked, filtered nor fined before bottling.
For those who know northern Rhônes, this could only be from Côte Rôtie—not Hermitage, not Saint Joseph, Cornas, or Crozes. The moment the bouquet rises from the glass, you are in the extreme northern part of the Rhône Valley, on the way to Burgundy.
Domaine de la Janasse Les Raisins Perdus is a luscious sweet wine crafted from late-harvested Roussanne and Clairette grapes, with partial destemming to balance ripeness and stalk maturity.
Shiny, green-gold color. Complex and subtle aromas of quince, walnuts, honey, ginger, and acacia with a hint of linden tree. A straightforward, non-aggressive palate, with a very elegant, very long, and almond finish.
The color pours into an intense cherry-red colour. The nose greets you to the aromas of small red fruits and blackcurrants. The palate is very round wine with aromas of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry.
Parallèle 45 Côtes-du-Rhône Paul Jaboulet Aîné Red 2021 is a beautifully balanced wine with notes of black raspberry, cassis, cherry, and a touch of peppery spice. Its velvety texture and surprising density lead to a long, captivating finish.
The more limited cuvee, the 2007 Gigondas Terrasses des Dentelles, exhibits super precision, a terrific minerality that comes through the lavish amounts of black raspberry, blueberry, and spring flower characteristics, superb ripeness, a saturated ruby/purple color, full-bodied power, and admirable elegance, purity, and acidity.
