At first sip, this Chardonnay is fruit-forward and refreshing. Crisp green apple, Asian pear and lemon meringue pie take center stage in our classic, cool-climate Chardonnay. More subtle tones of stone fruit, honeysuckle and yellow plum develop in the mid-palate while barrel fermentation and sur lie aging finish this Chardonnay with rich flavors of vanilla bean, butter cream and subtle hints of baking spices and clove. Well balanced acidity gives this lively wine structure and the perfect amount of bite.
This is the fifth vintage to come exclusively from the Martinelli Charles Ranch, two miles in from the Pacific at 1,115 ft elevation. Coming from a special vineyard site, our Sonoma Coast Chardonnay show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. This vineyard has a typically cool climate, low vigor soil, and a vine selection that generates small berries, small clusters and inherently low yields.

Force & Grace Chardonnay boasts an aromatic nose of crisp apples, ripe melon, and sweet citrus. The bright palate draws on flavors of lemon and Fuyu persimmon, with an edge of stony minerality. Fossil & Fawn started out as a completely reasonable idea in the late summer of 2011, and quickly spiraled into a much more complex, frustrating, terrifying, and unbelievably rewarding venture. They began with the notion of making a small amount of wine from their family vineyard as a single-site bottling, simply because no one else had done so before.
Ours is not a buttery, oaky Chard. It sees no malolactic fermentation and no oak so you get a dry and bright palate that is fruit forward and built for food. The nose is fresh and bright with orchard fruit aromas and a touch of smoke and flint. Lush notes of ripe pear and apple blend with mouthwatering acidity to give backbone and verve.
Lovely pear, red apple, stone fruit, lemon zest, along with hints of spice and floral notes. The palate has really good concentration, but remains vibrant and juicy with great balance and tension.
