Our appealing Apothic Chardonnay opens with generous notes of crisp red and green apple, layered with hints of honey, caramel and vanilla. This wine will be a pillar for California Sauvignon Blanc. The hallmark tropical components are elevated with the structure of minerality that comes from soils at Ink Grade. The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc has retained an herbal and mineral note with a backdrop of lemongrass and slate. These aromatics are balanced by tropical notes that create a wine of texture and complexity.

Bright and clear in the glass, this wine reveals aromas of grapefruit and Meyer lemon with hints of just ripe pineapple. Light-bodied but round in texture, the crisp acidity and a lively flavor of white peach and melon lead to a vibrant, fresh finish.

The Electra, an Orange Muscat, is amazingly fresh and almost alive with orange and peach flavors. Having a tingly, electric-like sensation on the end of the tongue, this dessert wine has only 4% alcohol, as opposed to the typical 12-14%, making it terrifically light.

The nose is zippy with citrus aromas of lemon and tangerine, stone fruits and toasted oak. The medium-weight palate is marked by refined minerality and oak supporting a ripe palate of pear, lemon cream and fresh apple flavors.

There’s lots of Chenin between here and Santa Barbara, but there is good reason to traverse all those miles. Of all the sites with which the winery works, Jurassic Park, planted on its own roots on quartz sand atop lime- stone in the late 1970s exhibits the most vintage variation, and small variations create very strong signals in the wine.
