A tawny port from Ramos Pinto, blended from various casks to produce a rich port wine. With an average age of 20 years (not a minimum age) this is blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca.
This 50-year-old Tawny was sourced in the eastern reaches of the Douro Valley, location of many of the finest vineyard estates and traditional source of the most long-lasting wines. Prior to blending, the individual wines were aged in Taylor’s cellars in seasoned oak casks specially selected and set aside by the firm’s team of expert coopers.
Nose: powerful and complex nuttiness aromas in harmony with spicy notes, warm roasted coffee and cinnamon hints from the long contact with oak wood during the aging process.Palate: On the palate, an array of flavours flourishes, mainly to toasted nuts and chocolate. The 40 Year-old is an intense and complex port with mellow and spicy aftertaste.
This wine's succulent berry flavours of moderate extraction converge with ripe stone fruit nuances supported by direct, firm tannins in a fresh, balanced texture.
