Vitiano Rosso 2012

A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and sangiovese, Vitiano Rosso is rich with dark red-fruit aromas and flavors. Merlot adds roundness and sweetness to the palate, cabernet sauvignon brings body and complexity, and the acidity of sangiovese provides balance to the mix. Notes of black cherries, plum, and spice make this wine an ideal match for red meat or tomato-sauced dishes.

34% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Sangiovese. Vitiano is also the DBA for Azienda Vinicola Falesco. In the sixties, Antonio and Domenico Cotarella, already winegrowers in Monterubiaglio, created their first winery for the production of their own wine. The current Falesco company was founded in 1979 by the brothers, Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, who grew up in a land with a long winemaking traditon and was driven by the passion of their father, Domenico. They turned a small family business into a successful business to leave to future generations. The Cotarella family's passion for winegrowing and a strong sense of belonging to their birthplace has pushed them for over thirty years to value their wine heritage and to produce wines of quality. They do this by following a production philosophy that focuses on several key values: Territory, Science, and Dynamics. In creating Vitano Rosso, Riccardo Cotarella combined the quality, terroir, and historic tradtions of Umbria with modern winemaking practices to craft a wine of contemporary style and character.
