Varietal Grenache (Cannonau, Garnacha, Tintilla)

Bright purple. Blackberry, minerals, dark chocolate, and a hint of licorice on the fragrant nose. Densely packed and lively, offering concentrated, gently sweet flavors of red and dark berries, violet, cracked pepper, and bitter chocolate. Finishes long and aromatic, with a firm tannic spine and strong mineral lift. This wine is made from young tintilla vines planted on the chalky "albariza" soil of the region, which is home to Jerez.

100% Tintilla (Grenache). Bottled by RE 7.540-CA for Cia. de Vinos del Atlantico. Companyia de Vinos del Atlantico (CVA) was founded in 2002 with the purpose of uniting the winemaking heritage of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata's families. Both of their families have been producing wine, independently, throughout Spain since the late 1800s. CVA currently produces wines in 18 different appellations within the Iberian Peninsula. The goal of CVA is to handcraft "elaborar" wines that expresses the identity of the place where they come from. Produced from vines planted in 1993, located in the Vino de la Tierra de Cadiz wine region (Zone 9) at 197-feet elevation, growing in the albariza soil. Average temperature during the April-October growing season was 69.8 F with an annual rainfall of 23.6 in. Aged 12 months in 30% oak vats and 60% 6,000-liter concrete tanks, followed by 8 months in 225-liter, French oak barrels.
