A rich and smoky 10-year-old single malt from Laphroaig that has been finished in oloroso sherry casks, creating a rich, full-bodied character. Alba refers to Quercus Alba, the type of American White Oak that are used to mature A’Bunadh Alba. Coincidently, Alba is also the Scots Gaelic name for Scotland. The English name refers to the light colour of the bark of some species. American Oak trees grow much faster than most European Oak species and can live for hundreds of years.
Tomintoul Tlath is the result of carefully selected casks. Light with some sweet toffee and vanilla and hints of mint leaf and citrus peel. Light and creamy and some oak driven spiciness dance on the tongue with background layers of nutmeg and toasted vanilla.
The Tomintoul distillery is located in the Scottish Highlands in the Cairngorms National Park. The distillery was named after the village of Tomintoul, which is located near the site. The whiskey distillery was opened in 1964 and is now in the hands of Angus Dundee Distillers.
