Made with 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. The Syrah brings a bit of funk and black cherry to the mix and the Merlot adds a bit of dark chocolate, mint and plushness on the finish. It is well balanced, elegant and lovely. A truly original red, it will complement most meals, especially pizza.
A distinctive blend crafted by winemaker Jeff Carrel, Puydeval is based on Cabernet Franc, which thrives in the cooler microclimates of the generally hot Languedoc region of Southern France. Aged in oak barrels for 10 months, it is ripe, polished and well-balanced, offering spicy aromas of black cherry and blackberry, with hints of anise, and just a touch of earthy character.
