Polugar Wheat Vodka

This spirit is made solely from wheat grain, both malted and nonmalted, giving it a texture that is plump and broad. It is clean and measured on the palate, with flowery, fruity and spice notes, an elegant bitterness, and bright persistent bread nttes on the finish.

Polugar is quite different from modern vodka, closer in style to the legendary Russian bread wine, the father of vodka. Boris Rodionov, a renowned academic and vodka historian, discovered the original recipe for the bread wine and, with his family, has spearheaded a movement to bring it back. Russian law today forbids the use of the Polugar style of distillation, and so the Rodionovs refurbished an old distillery tucked away in a forest in Poland.
