Paolo Scavino Barbera d'Alba 2012
The Barbera d'Alba D.O.C. is consistent expression of this local eclectic grape. Vinification and aging occur in stainless steel to purely deliver its character. Floral, elegant and expressive aromatics, high-toned texture, harmonious, and lively acidity. A fruity Barbera, with fresh blackberry notes and a hint of chocolate. Medium bodied with bright fruit and a good finish.
100% Barbera. The Paolo Scavino winery was founded in 1921 by Enrico Scavino's grandfather, Lorenzo, and his father, Paolo. Today Enrico runs the winery with the help of his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The winery is located in Castiglione Falletto, one of the eleven communes of the Barolo appellation, in the historical Langhe hills. The Scavino winery is rare in their possession of grand cru's in six of the eleven villages of Barolo. Enrico has created unique concepts in the vineyards and cellar that trademark the purism, elegance and freshness of Scavino wines—an end product that arrives from a never ending search to increase quality in their wines.
