Neyers Vineyards Roberts Road Pinot Noir 2016
The Sangiacomo Family Roberts Road Vineyard is in the cool, fog-shrouded environs of the Petaluma Gap. They harvest fruit from this block by hand, then sort the berries. They remove about 50% of the stems, ferment in open top fermenters using native wild yeast. They punch down the cap manually several times daily. The wine is subsequently aged for one year in 60-gallon French oak barrels.
About 25% of their production is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on our 50-acre, Conn Valley ranch. They purchase additional grapes from a select group of growers, among them the Sangiacomo family of the Carneros District, Will Nord of Napa, the Rossi Ranch of Sonoma County, Markus Bokisch and the Evangelho family. In 1999, we purchased and renovated a winery on a thirty-acre parcel in the Sage Canyon area of Napa Valley. Over the next 14 months we built the modern, highly functional winery designed for our traditional winemaking practices.
